An interview with CBP Head Butler Ms Clare Barry 

With our hectic pace of life, we all realise that this gift is time. Clare Barry, The new Global Head Butler for Circle of Beautiful People International and last year's winner of Luxury Lifestyle Awards, knows all about this invaluable resource and can professionally help people plan and spend it.

She will share her understanding of a successful and customer-oriented service, methods of surpassing competitors and her victory in Luxury Lifestyle Awards.

Q. Clare, please share the story with us of your joining with Circle of Beautiful People. What stood behind this idea?

I attended an 'Businesses supporting Community Charity work' event at Ascot race course last year and happened to meet Veronica van Nierop, Vice President of Circle of Beautiful People International, at the event. I recognized her accent as being Australian and we began a long conversation about my time there. We had not only lived in the same area, Kiribilli, but the same street! The affinity was immediate, and we kept in contact socially and professionally. When the opportunity came to join professionally with CBP, under its new leadership team, I knew it was now the Private Luxury Club that I wanted to work with in the capacity of Global Head Butler.

I have loved building my relationship with CBP and their exceptional handpicked team. We are all examples that anything is possible with hard work and value the authenticity and professionalism of our relationship and our service to our members. I wouldn't change it for the world. I think I have the best job! It has been very important to me that our Global Butler and lifestyle management services within remains a personal service as we love to deal with most of our members on a personal level.

Exceptional customer service is incredibly important. Now with the CBP team we have an amazing network of contacts and fantastic relationships with our clients.

Q. The Concierge service is not a new area for CBP. What do you envisage is needed to remain unique and attractive to CBP members long-term?

I think it's fantastic that CBP is growing as it is. What I would consider our unique quality is that I am getting to know every single Gold and Silver member; all of our Concierge members are allocated a Lifestyle Manager according to personality and skill set, so the client receives the best of CBP service .Our clients always deal with the same Lifestyle Manager. At CBP getting to know you and your unique needs and tastes is paramount.

This is why we at CBP tailor-make our CBP membership packages, to ensure that they receive best value for money. I don't believe you can have one package that fits all. Everyone is looking for something different and it's important to be flexible.

Q. What, in your opinion, are the key secrets of a top Global Head Butler?

CBP is an amazing team and our team of lifestyle managers are also exceptional. The management and I believe, looking after our team members and ensuring they feel a valued part of the company is essential. Being flexible as the company grows, taking on new ideas and trying new things. Yes of course, I look back at things that I did at the start, that I wouldn't do now, but I have learned from them all.

In this industry there is a lot of trust involved, which takes time. We have all built trust in our respective fields and Deidre Madsen, our President, has an amazing circle of trust and support, she has always been the heart and soul of the integrity of the CBP community. We have been very lucky that we have incredible members, who are a vital part of our CBP community, we share common values, enjoy the connectivity that the Club brings especially on our new site with all of its amazing functions and share a bond of mutual respect, acknowledgement. I enjoy the 'Family' we are creating.

Q. What is the greatest reward for you personally in the job?

Achieving the unexpected! When a member is struggling with something and they ask us to sort it out for them, making our members happy is amazing.

Q. This year you were named the best in the Luxury Lifestyle Awards. What does this prove to you?

We were blown away when we were told we had won. Having our hard work recognized by Luxury Lifestyle Awards was fantastic and has made us very proud of the service we offer to our members. 

Q. What are your goals for the future? Are you planning to expand, add new services and reach new clients?

Yes, Joining CBP is the realization of a goal and we will continue growing as a Private Luxury Club, but it's important that we don't lose that personal touch. We have lots of exciting things coming up!
